Apply for an AIMSSEC course.
AMSSEC offers a progrsamme of professional development for teachers in seven courses to train teachers to be mathematics subject leaders.
Courses are registered for SACE endorsement and professional development points.
Courses have a residential component followed by 3-months or 6-months school based learning invovlving mathematics subject knowledge, pedagogy and educational technology.
Do you want to be a really effective Head of Department? Or do you work as a teacher trainer for an NGO or a Subject Advisor for local government? If so then you will find that AIMSSEC has the courses you need.
AIMSSEC has worked tirelessly with thousands of teachers with our sister countries on the African continent. Our work in Ghana, Rwanda, Cameroon, Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda has kept our finger on the pulse of teacher education and broadened our network on the continent. In line with our philosophy of education, we worked alongside teachers to share knowledge about learner-centred activities that built on teachers’ experiential knowledge and understanding of mathematics.
Teaching in under resourced communities presents many challenges. AIMSSEC’s mission is to empower teachers, teacher trainers and subject advisors to combat poverty by bringing new skills, new hopes and new horizons to African schools and raising standards of mathematics. Courses are taught by an international team of mathematics education experts.
Criteria for bursaries depend on the poverty level of the area of your school and the school fees. Apply for a bursary or find your own funding. Either stay in the student hostel at Stellenbosch High School or book your own B&B.
