This is a puzzle and game for 2 players or 2 teams. When you first meet it, play cooperatively rather than competitively. First think of this as a puzzle. Match the regular polygons with stars so that each polygon-star pair has a different shape combination to all the others, showing a different combination of the numbers of points. Then place the polygon-star pairs on the board so that no row, column or diagonal has two polygons of the same shape (colour) or two stars of the same  shape.  This is the winning layout when you play the game.

Start the game with the board empty and take turns to put the 16 polygon-star pairs on the grid, using strategies to avoid making it easy for your opponent to win. When all the polygon-star pairs are on the board take turns to exchange the positions of two polygon-star pairs until a winning layout is achieved. The winner is the first player to move the pieces so that no row, column or diagonal has two polygons of the same shape (colour) or two stars of the same  shape.
