Click here for the Tri Fold GTEN workshop video that provides learning activities and suggestions for teaching about geometry. For primary teaching we lay the foundations for later learning. We plant the seeds, and we begin to cultivate insights, visualization and understanding of mathematics. Practical experiences underpin later abstract thinking. For secondary teaching we build understanding and skills for lifelong learning.

While you watch try out the activities for yourself. Draw 3 triangles and cut them out (any size and angles you wish). In the workshop you will

  • Make a few simple folds
  • Work through practical activities that will help your students to discover geometrical properties by themselves
  • Explore properties of reflections and enlargements
  • Investigate proofs of geometry theorems

The Global Teacher Empowerment Network (GTEN) videos provide resources for differentiation and inclusion, with guidance and learning activities that follow a spiral learning pathway from early years to leaving school.
